The smell of bacon in the house is like heaven, so the thought of adding this glorious piece of meat to vodka is a genius idea. Not that I needed an excuse to cook bacon, but it helps. After cooking up a pound of bacon, I sacrificed a few for the greater good of a weekend of bloody marys.
What you'll need:
32 oz. mason jar
Half decent vodka
4 strips of bacon and some grease
Cook your bacon (I like mine crisp, so it has more of a smokey flavour) let it cool.
Reserve bacon grease.
Place the pieces in the mason jar with about a few scoops of bacon grease.
Fill the jar with vodka, put on the lid, shake it up and let it sit.
Place in the refrigerator for a week.
When you're ready, take it out and strain out the pieces of congealed fat with some cheesecloth and fine mesh strainer.
Discard the bacon.
Store in the refrigerator until you're ready to mix up your bloody mary.
