Postling Analytics
Postling has its very own set of analytics that can help you see engagement levels on Twitter, Facebook, and other networks. From Postling’s analytics dashboard you can see how many posts you’ve made over the past 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days. We also show you the corresponding amount of comments you got on each day, so you can easily see the peaks and low points in engagement. It’s really amazing to see how engagement goes up with the number of posts you make (this is a statistical fact, guys!).


If you have keyword trackers in Postling (which allow you to track what people are saying about your business all over the internet) we will also show you how many results came in over that time period.

So why exactly is this important? Using Postling’s analytics you can break down which of your social media accounts get more of a response from your followers (maybe you get more @ replies on Twitter than wall posts on Facebook) and can help guide your future activities. Also, it’s an important lesson for businesses to see that the more they post, the more engagement they’ll get. We did a study on this a few months ago, analyzing all small business accounts on Postling and the results were remarkable. Across the board, businesses that posted 10 or more times per week across all of their social networks had almost 10 times more comments/responses.

Facebook Insights
We mentioned Facebook Insights during week 1 of Boot Camp but it bears repeating. Insights is a free service from Facebook that provides Page admins (that’s you!) with metrics around their Page and content. From the overview you can see growth patterns in users and interactions for your Page. There are a few things you want to keep your eye on here — Likes, post views, and post feedback. As you get more Likes, in theory, more people will see your posts and engage with the content. Maybe your posts don't involve enough interaction (yet!) to strike high levels of feedback. If that’s the case, try posting a variety of different things (images, links, questions, personal/fun things) to drum up some engagement.

If you click over to Users on the left-hand side of Facebook you’ll be able to break down those metrics even further, so you can see gender and age breakdown, regions, and just what tabs on your profile people are really looking at.

The interactions section really breaks down your posts to show you which produce the highest level of engagement. As a good task, sort the posts by Feedback (so the highest percentage is at the top) and take your top 5 posts and write down the basic factors of all of these — on average how long are the posts, do they have pictures, do they ask questions, are they of a personal or business nature? Try and draw patterns and connections between the posts that perform the best for you and use this to guide your future posts on Facebook.


bit.ly
bit.ly is a tool that allows you to create shortened links and track how many clicks each link gets. We can’t recommend signing up for a free bit.ly account enough so you can really see just how popular your links are. Additionally, by using shortened links on Twitter you can fit more characters into the description, so people actually know what the link goes out to!

You can also add your bit.ly account to Postling so every post can have shortened, tracked links. To do this, you will need to go to Manage Brands and select which brand you’d like to add the bit.ly account to. You will need to enter your username and bit.ly API key, which you can find here if you have a bit.ly account.


Google Analytics
Google Analytics is one of the top tools out there for analyzing traffic on your website (that is, any site that you can control the HTML code for). All you need to do is setup a profile under your Google/Gmail account and install a little bit of code on your site. From then on out you can track where all of your traffic comes from, how long they stick around, what pages are the most popular, and what people are looking for in search engines to get to your blog. This is the sort of valuable information you should have!



Twitter Counter
Twitter Counter is a great tool that sends you an email every week recapping your Twitter follower growth. It’s simple to setup and a great way to keep track and monitor if your follower count is going up, down, and what they predict it will be next week. And trust us, seeing that follower count go up one week only motivates you to work that much harder to keep the numbers growing!
